Party areas in Malta
Paceville
This is Malta's biggest party area. Most of the bars and clubs are concentrated in Paceville, an area very close to St Julian's. The atmosphere here is quite youthful and in summer it's full of students celebrating the end of their degree or who have come to Malta to study English. The most popular streets for partying in Paceville are Rita Steps, Wilga Street and Georges Road.
St. Julian's
The party scene in St. Julian's is quite similar to that of Paceville. It's a great area for bar-hopping or having a drink on a terrace. It's also a great place to get accommodation if you want to be close to the fun. The nightlife is quite lively and, in addition to clubs, it also offers other entertainment options such as the Dragonara Casino.
Sliema
Although Sliema has fewer nightclubs, it's an excellent area for bar-hopping within walking distance of your hotel. Sliema offers a wide variety of accommodations, so there's an option for everyone! The atmosphere in Sliema is less youthful with people of all ages.
Nightclubs in Malta
Malta's biggest and busiest nightclubs are concentrated in Paceville, the main party area. These are the most famous nightclubs in Malta:
- The Axis: Less than 5 minutes from St. George's Bay is this famous 3-storey venue. It's one of Malta's best-known nightclubs, as it has 3 floors, plays pop music and is open late into the night.
- Havana: Next to The Axis is Havana, a nightclub with electronic, rock and pop music. It's very large, can hold up to 3,000 people, and has an outdoor terrace that attracts the attention of the more international crowd.
- Gianpula Club: Malta's biggest nightclub and home to some of the most famous DJs. It can hold around 4,000 people and is open until quite late. The only downside is that it's quite far from the party area, a half-hour walk from Mdina.
- Marrakech: If you're looking for a more exclusive atmosphere, Marrakech is one of the chicest clubs on the island. Inside you'll find VIP areas, all kinds of cocktails and a beautiful outdoor garden.
