Unlike other tourist destinations, in Malta, it's not as common to see taxis on the street. However, in the main tourist areas and at the airport it's easier to find a line of taxis, which can save you a lot of trouble if you're in a hurry or lost.
Taxis in Malta are white with a sign on the roof indicating "taxi". All taxis have taxi meters and most have a dataphone for paying by card.

Supplements
For journeys from the airport, there's a fixed price which varies depending on the city of Malta you're staying in. There's no luggage surcharge. The most common fares are € 17 (US$ 18) from the airport to Valletta, € 15 (US$ 15.90) to Marsaxlokk and € 20 (US$ 21.10) to St Julian's.
Stops
In Valletta, taxis congregate at the entrance to the city and around the Grandmaster's Palace. In the rest of the cities, taxis are usually located near bus stations and in the vicinity of the most popular hotels.
In tourist centres such as Mdina, taxis stay outside the city walls, next to the city gate. In St. Julian's, it's quite common to find taxis in the party area.
